gemstone and jewellery care

With frequent wear, the natural oils in your skin can lessen the sparkle of some gemstones

To restore their original sparkle, wash your jewellery gently with a soft damp cloth and dishwashing liquid well diluted in warm water. For any 'wire' jewellery designs, avoid excessive wetting and just buff gently over the stones/beads with a soft barely damp cloth. Always dry thoroughly afterwards

For any items with sterling silver, I recommend the use of a silver cloth, rather than a silver dip solution.

Perfume, hairspray, detergent, chlorine and other strong chemicals can cause detrimental effects to pearls, shell, some gemstones and glass; if possible, avoid contact on or near your jewellery and always wait for perfume etc to dry on the sky before putting on your jewellery

Whenever you are getting ready to go out, your jewellery should always be the last thing that you put on

According to the universally accepted Moh scale of hardness, a gemstone has a relative hardness between 1 and 10 (1 being talc and 10 being diamond). Stones with a hardness of less than 8 are vulnerable to scratching if worn excessively or if they come in contact with any surfaces harder than themselves. Please be aware of this when you wear any jewellery – the more care you take, the longer your jewellery will remain as beautiful as the day you bought it

All the jewellery is handcrafted, mostly with semi-precious gemstones and freshwater pearls which I select from reputable importers in the UK, Canada, India, China and America. I also use beautiful handmade glass beads, and faceted crystal beads - these have a similar weight to the gemstones, which means that they feel substantial and 'hang' well

The range of gemstones, pearls and other beads available is constantly changing. Please let me know if you are interested in something that isn't on my current list - I may already have a small quantity in stock or I will happily try to source it for you

Pearl and Shell Jewellery

Perfume, hairspray, detergent, chlorine and other strong chemicals can cause detrimental effects to pearls and shell beads; avoid contact on or near your jewellery. Always wait for perfume, body products etc to dry on the skin before putting on your jewellery. Do not leave brightly coloured pearls and shell in strong sunlight; store in a soft cloth or bag to avoid scratching or damaging the surface of the beads. Avoid dehydration and possible de-lamination by regularly wearing your pearls; clean with a soft damp cloth and leave to dry naturally

Stainless Steel

I make most of my designs using Stainless Steel. This metal has a lovely, contemporary finish and the added bonus of being very strong and generally hypo-allergenic. It is perfect for constant wear; utterly summer-proof - it is not affected by the sea, sand, swimming pools, sun cream etc

My range includes a huge selection of gemstone, pearl and Stainless Steel drop earrings to complement this season's jewellery collections.

Most drop earrings are available on either post-and-scroll studs, handcrafted ear wires or lever-back attachments, depending on the finish and style required - all are available in Stainless Steel and some are available 925 Sterling Silver. Most drop earrings can also be fitted with Stainless Steel clip earring attachments
